Founded in 1991 in Los Angeles, SSA Security Group, Inc. is a locally owned and operated, full service security agency, providing patrols in specific LA-based neighborhoods. Offering residential, commercial, and private security services, our primary focus is assuring our clients’ security and well-being in their community and home.

SSA Security Group is staffed by highly trained and skilled security specialists.

Our security specialists/investigators come from a myriad of professional backgrounds. All are POST-certified* and police academy or sheriff’s academy graduates. Some are newly retired law enforcement personnel — many assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Metropolitan Division or SWAT detail. While all of our officers are trained in unarmed tactics, each are properly documented to carry weapons during assignments. On the investigative side, our specialists have worked for insurance companies and elite investigative units within the LAPD, several with private investigative and security detail experience in both California and Texas.

We service the entire State of California. The San Diego area is covered by the Orange County office and Central California is the responsibility of the Chatsworth staff. We are currently in the process of obtaining licensing in Texas and Nevada. SSA staff has designed and worked numerous custom security details and investigations covering virtually every state, including Hawaii.

Founders/Management

JERRY H. SHAW

President

Mr. Shaw is a twenty-five year, retired veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department. He spent the majority of his career in the elite Metropolitan Division, consisting of S.W.A.T., counter-assault teams, K-9 units, underwater dive teams (UDT), and the very successful crime suppression detail.

As a Metropolitan Division Supervisor, Mr. Shaw also worked in conjunction with the U.S. Secret Service and Department of State overseeing personnel security and site protection for visiting Foreign Heads of State, the President and Vice-President of the United States (through six administrations), high profile politicians and crime witnesses, valuable property details and witness/officer security. In the Greater Los Angeles area, Mr. Shaw assisted in establishing the security of the homes and offices of many foreign dignitaries, including Counsel Generals of Canada and Turkey.

Mr. Shaw has participated in and led dozens of seminars regarding security protection, including the nationally renowned San Luis Obispo School of Terrorism, the United States Secret Service School of Personal Protection and the State of California School of Personal Protection. He was the co-founder and principal owner of Security Consultants where he established security protections, and planned, implemented and conducted security audits for residents, businesses, production companies and major corporations.

During the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, Mr. Shaw assisted in planning, implementing and overseeing the security needs for athletes housed at the Olympic Village on the campus of UCLA; as well, he personally led and supervised the counter-assault teams assigned to protect the athletes.

As a co-founder and president of SSA Security Group, Inc., he has established and overseen the security planning for McDonald’s Restaurants, American West Bank, the United States Credit Bureau, Alpharel Micro-Chip Manufacturing, the City of Fullerton Transportation Center, Mathews Studio Group, Inc. and numerous manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles and Ventura County.

Throughout the course of his law enforcement career, Mr. Shaw has received numerous honors including meritorious commendations for police and investigative work involving the successful resolution of many high-profile criminal cases. He is an active member of the following professional investigative and police officers organizations: ASIS, NCISS, SCFIA, NCFIA, CPOA, CALI and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He holds degrees in Business Management (BS) and Pubic Administration (MS) from Pepperdine University.

TERRY M. SEGRAVES

Executive Senior Vice-President

Mr. Segraves is a twenty-eight year, retired veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, serving more than half of his career in the elite Metropolitan Division. During his tenure, he established and supervised hundreds of security plans and details for visiting dignitaries from numerous nations. He also served on the LAPD’s development team for Support Line Tactics for Unusual Occurrences including Riot and Crowd Control Tactics.

As an assistant platoon leader, Mr. Segraves was frequently tasked with creating a liaison with the United States Department of State and the U.S. Secret Service. These assignments involved addressing high-risk security needs for visiting international dignitaries and Heads of State, the President and Vice-President of the United States (through six administrations) and high profile witnesses, planning and establishing personal security in and around their temporary residences.

Mr. Segraves has attended and led training at dozens of professional seminars regarding security protection and needs including the nationally renowned San Luis Obispo School of Terrorism, the United States Secret Service School of Personal Protection and the State of California School of Personal Protection. With Mr. Shaw, he worked the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, establishing security for the Israeli athletes and their contingents, the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, El Al Airlines at the Los Angeles Airport and Turkish athletes and dignitaries. Mr. Segraves also served on the elite team that established security detail for Pope John Paul II during his visit to Los Angeles.

As a co-founder and principal for SSA Security Group, Inc., he has supervised, consulted and established security for McDonald’s Restaurants, Alpharel Micro-Chip Manufacturing, the City of Fullerton Transportation Center, Mathews Studio Group, Inc., Hollywood Rentals, Inc., the United States Credit Bureau, American West Bank and hundreds of personal security operations.

Mr. Segraves is an active member of the following professional investigative and police officers organizations: ASIS, NCISS, SCFIA, NCFIA, CPOA, CALI and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Throughout his law enforcement and investigative career, Mr. Segraves has been honored with numerous police commission meritorious commendations including the LAPD Police Star. He holds degrees in Administration of Justice and Business Administration from University of Redlands.

Raymond P. Lombardo

Sr. Vice-President, Operations

Vice-President of Operations for both SSA Security Group, Inc. and Shaw, Segraves & Associates, Inc. (Investigation), Mr. Lombardo is a retired member of the Los Angeles Police Department. During his 33-year tenure he was assigned to Patrol, Vice, Traffic, and Detectives. As a Sergeant, he was assigned to Patrol, Gangs, and the Department’s Internal Affairs Section. As a Lieutenant, he served as a Patrol Watch Commander, a Bureau Vice Coordinator and a Detective Division Commanding Officer. During his last eight years with the LAPD, he was the Commanding Officer of both Hollywood and West Los Angeles Detective Divisions. He led several high profile investigations including the “Hillside Burglars” case that targeted affluent hillside neighborhoods. The two-year investigation culminated with the arrest of the mastermind of the criminal crew.

During his career, Mr. Lombardo developed and staffed several security details for high profile witnesses and individuals with threats against them. He also developed security audits to protect them at home and their places of business. He has attended numerous seminars involving investigations of homicides, robberies, gangs, narcotics, fraud, and burglary, as well as educational forums addressing physical and personal security and associated crimes. Mr. Lombardo attended Sergeant’s School, Lieutenant (Mid-Manager) School, Command Development Program, and other schools involving leadership and management. In the private sector, Mr. Lombardo is known as an outstanding interrogator, has conducted hundreds of investigations into fraud related matters and has organized, staffed, and developed intelligence for numerous security details. Mr. Lombardo holds a degree in Administration of Justice from Cal State Los Angeles and certificates from the State of California for Police Officer Standardized Training (POST) in all facets of police enforcement practices, investigation and management.

Todd Orsini

Vice-President/Director, Security Operations

A retired supervisor of the San Fernando Police Department (SFPD) specializing in Patrol, Narcotics, Bike Detail (participant in the inception of this detail) and Traffic Enforcement (initiated and supervised the Motor Detail), Mr. Orsini is also a court qualified expert in Intoxication & Drug Recognition. He worked and supervised several crime specific details, including developing specialized intelligence and providing expert trouble-shooting addressing crime reduction in the city of San Fernando. He worked numerous security details while on the SFPD for visiting dignitaries including helping to establish and implement security for the Mayor of the city of San Fernando.

In the private sector, and for SSA Security Group, Inc. (SSA) he has both worked and supervised security details of all types. Until his promotion to Vice President and Director of Security Operations, he led training for SSA officers including patrol procedure instruction for private security operations while acting as Field Supervisor.

Mr. Orsini is instrumental in establishing security plans and deployment implementation for many SSA special security details including providing security and robbery prevention for multiple retail stores throughout Southern California. As well, he consults and assists in the establishment of security for a variety of celebrities, VIPs and residents in their homes and for a variety of businesses throughout Southern California.

Mr. Orsini is a member of many professional organizations and has attended numerous seminars and training events throughout his career.
